I just found this out.
If you can't be bothered clicking on someone then clicking "WhisperChat" just type their name then this symbol in the chat bar and if the name turns blue, the color it usually turns in whisper chat, then it works.
Like this. Mostly works on your friends, people who are online, and people in the same room.
Example:
Type:
_______: <-- see those collumn thingyes whatever you call them? type a name then that.
(name goes above)
